06.10.09 - IT is with great pleasure that the Thornhill Masters Aquatic Club with the Thornhill Triathlon club announce that effective immediately these 2 clubs will be working together as a combined unit to continue to develop adult Triathletes and Masters Swimmers in the Thornhill area. Together the new club is being called Thornhill Multisport, and will have a swim division and a triathlon division. Under the watchful eyes of Thornhill Masters coach Ian Feldman, the combined entity will be setting up a series of programs for those who are purely Masters Swimmers, those who want to do triathlons, and those who want to do both disciplines. Over the past 5 years, Ian has taken the Thornhill Masters Aquatic Club from a start up club with less then 20 swimmers to where the current membership exceeds 50 swimmers, and ranks in the top 10 in Ontario and top 20 in Canada. Many of the current members of the Thornhill Masters are Triathletes, including Christine McLean who ranks at the top of the world in her age group, to many others who are just starting in the sport. The goal has always been to widen the scope of the Aquatic Club, and this arrangement allows both organizations to expand their reach. Currently the Thornhill Masters Aquatic Club swim out of the Thornlea Pool, and this will be the main base of operation for the combined entity. It is hopes that in the near future the club will add more pool and training space in other facilities. In addition to swimming, the club is currently putting together a run and cycle schedule as well.
