April 1, 2010

To all THOR Members,

As the competitive swim season winds down, and we move forward, I wanted to express my true appreciation for the dedication that so many of you have afforded to the club. You have helped to make this club far more then I ever expected it to be when I started it. Not only in terms of the size, and performance, but most importantly the support and care that so many of you have given the club.

Thank you all for your kind words regarding the work that I have put into the club. Remember one thing though, without members like you, I would not have the opportunity to do what I do. It is a 2 way street. I truly appreciate the support.

Every year has been a new experience as THOR continues to grow and improve. This year has been no different. Starting at Etobicoke in November, and ending at Provincials with our 8th place finish, this year has without a doubt been the best in the clubs history. I beleive that we can safely say that we are now one of the stronger clubs in the Province, and can compete against almost any club around. Look out for next year.

A quick note, Provincials next year are in Ottawa, March 25 - 27 2011.
I hope I have given enough notice!

This year, as most of you know we have 2 big things happening over the next few months. 1. North Thornhill Pool opening, 2. Thornhill Triathlon Club.

I am proud to say that after months of work, we will be starting to work out at the North Thornhill Pool starting in July. THe idea is to build up a membership based in that area. Members who live in Vaughan will have the opportunity to move to that pool of you wish. I will have more information shortly.

Thornhill Triathlon Club. I am proud to say that Mike Rosenblatt is going to be our coach, and has upgraded his Triathlon Certification so that we are now able to Join OAT as a member club. This is currently being done.
This means that any members who want to be on the tri club will have to become OAT members. This can be done through the club. Please let me know if you are interested in this, as we are working on schedules now, and knowing how many people are interested would be helpful. If you know anyone outside the club who might want to join, now is the time! Running and cycling workouts are being put together, and lake swims will start as soon as the water warms up. I am guessing mid May. I am looking into team apparel as well. Spread the word.

Over the summer, club workouts will be split 2 groups competitive swimmers, and Triathletes. Knowing numbers and where you want to be will help out in putting the programs together. Anyone can do one or both.
There will be separate registration packages for each group.

If you have any questions please ask. Registration packages will be out shortly.

Here is to a great spring and summer season!
